Pioneer Day

The last few years we have started a family tradition in spending the 24th of July at Lagoon. My sister and her family of 6 and our family started this a few years back and discovered that it was the best day to go to Lagoon for a few reasons. First, surprisingly Lagoon is less crowded on Pioneer Day. Most people are at the parade or having family parties. The wait times in line are super short. Second, Lagoon always seems to run a Holiday Special on Pioneer Day. Last year, they ran a special for $24 for the 24th. This year it was $33.00 each if you buy 6 or more tickets.  That is a pretty great deal considering what they charge on a regular day of $47.95.  The kids love riding on the rides with each other. We spent 12 hours there yesterday.  It's amazing how fast a day goes by when you're having a FUN time!  We were able to attend a fabulous show last night at Lagoon called Bosque by Cirque Innosta. It was fabulous! They had amazing acrobats who came out on unicycles balancing bowls on top of their heads, doing back flips from one guy to another and catching each-other on their feet. I can't even describe how amazing it was. I have always been obsessed with Cirque shows and this one did not disappoint!

Allie was able to ride on a few rides that she wasn't able to ride on in the years past. Her favorite ride this year that she loved was The Bat, Lagoon’s first suspended coaster, promises fun for the entire family. Riders will be suspended — feet dangling — below 1,122 feet of twisting track that banks and weaves through the trees, creating an exciting sensation of flying.

Allie and Mason loved BomBora a dynamic coaster with numerous state-of-the-art high speed thrilling elements including sudden drops, banked turns, compound spirals, and more. An innovative 16-seat train pairs riders side by side accompanied by rocking music and elegantly lighted theming. The amply padded seat and restraint securely holds riders at the waist to provide exhilarating upper body freedom during the ride. We had to ride that roller coaster a few times!

The Dinosaur Drop and Ladybug Bop were also one of our family favorites. Each consist of two independent 40-foot vertical fall towers. These family rides will appeal to all ages. Each ride has five double seats attached to a motorized ring driven around each vertical tower. Both towers offer several different ride programs in which vertical and rotational movement can be controlled, providing different ride
