Labor Day Weekend in Bear Lake, Utah

For the Labor Day weekend, Tim and I and the kiddos headed up to our Bear Lake cabin for a few days. It was so beautiful up there. The leaves had already changed colors and the mountains surrounding the lake were breathtaking.  We took the kids up to Minnetoka cave and had lunch over looking Bear Lake at the club house restaurant in Fish Haven, Idaho. I am have spent a lot of time taking pictures of the gorgeous scenery. The kids loved playing on the beach and making sand castles with their daddy.  I was busy trying hard to keep up Naomi, who was fascinated with the water and the really had no interest in the sand.

Ready for Bear Lake
We went to Minnetonka Cave located in Idaho, just 20 minutes from our cabin. It is an interesting nine room 2,000 foot long limestone cave containing an impressive array of stalactites and stalagmites. The Forest Service guides conduct 1 to 1-1/2 hour tours of the cave from mid-June to Labor Day.

They have tours that start every half hour from 10 to 5:30. The tour requires descending and ascending about 450 stairs and the cave temperature is a damp 40 degrees. It was chilly but we came prepared with coats and sweatshirts. The kids were pretty amazed by how big the cave was.

We then headed to Fish Haven, Idaho and had lunch at the golf course club house that overlooked the beautiful blue lake.

And of course, we then headed to North Beach on the Idaho side of Bear Lake. It was a gorgeous day! And especially beautiful weather for the first week of September...

On Sunday, after church we took a drive up to Pairs, Idaho to go explore the Ice Cave that we have never seen. On the way I couldn't help but snap a few beautiful pictures.

On Labor Day, we went to the beach for a bit and then had lunch at the Bear Trapper before heading home. We had a great weekend!
